The power supply unit of my desktop PC broke down earlier this year and, instead of going through the trouble of installing a new one, I decided to switch entirely to my Surface 3 tablet. It cannot run LotRO well, and I am currently unable to take any fancy screenshots. Fortunately, I managed to finish Rohan storyline before the incident, and I still have a bunch shots to publish. For this round, I selected a set themed around the various battles in Rohan.
For the test, I did some questing in West Rohan. Without the power drain from external devices, Surface was able to run the game without crashes. With the low settings the game looks bad, but the frame rate is unstable. Out in the wilderness on in interior spaces Surface can reach over 30 frames per second, but with more characters or visual effects frame rate drops below 10 per second
In conclusion, Surface 3 can run LotRO. Unfortunately, due the low power of the hardware the game is not fun to play and in will eat a considerable amount of the limited internal storage or memory card. To fully enjoy the game a more powerful machine is strongly recommended.
‘I see a white stream that comes down from the snows,’ he said. ‘Where it issues from the shadow of the vale a green hill rises upon the east. A dike and mighty wall and thorny fence encircle it. Within there rise the roofs of houses; and in the midst, set upon a green terrace, there stands aloft a great hall of Men. And it seems to my eyes that it is thatched with gold. The light of it shines far over the land. Golden, too, are the posts of its doors.’

Murf’s Screenshot Safari is officially over and the winners have been announced. I did not win any categories, but it was still a blast to take part in the competition and to get new followers and comments to my blog. Also, do not forget to check the super blogroll of all the participants.
As requested, here is a round-up of all my entries to the safari:
Not all heroes are mighty warriors and wizards. There are a lot of everyday heroes struggling in war-torn Rohan. Like this pregnant Rohirrim woman who was bullied by her peers because she got the man, they all were after. This is my third entry to the Murf’s Screenshot Safari challenge for Newbie Blogger Initiative.
