Moving to Bear ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ
I finally decided to leave Wordpress.com and will move to Bear blog. I also considered having a static site, but that would require too much extra effort to set up and maintain.
I have set up this blog and purchased the lifetime plan. The process of the migration is following:
- Copy all blog posts and pages to Bear. I try to add new posts on both platforms.
- Point
jlaasonen.medomain to Bear. I will no longer post on Wordpress.com. - Switch to EU based domain provider.
- Eventually, delete the blog from WordPress.com. I won’t do this straight away to conserve the original posts and comments.
Bear does not have a similar follow system as WordPress and to keep following the readers need to subscribe to Atom or RSS feed. The feed URL will stay the same https://jlaasonen.me/feed, but the default format is Atom. RSS feed will be under https://jlaasonen.me/feed/?type=rss.
Bear also lacks a built-in comment system, but it should be possible to integrate a third party system. My posts get only a few comments so, I will not add commenting right away, but might look for a suitable option later.
