70s American Muscle Car Coloured with Alcohol Markers
I liked colouring with Affinity Photo and KolorMarc Studio Markers, so I wanted to try using physical alcohol markers. I bought a set of 12 Copic Ciao markers and coloured the 70s American Muscle Car colouring page created with Midjourney. These markers are expensive, so I only bought a small set. The 12 marker set has limited blending options but contains each dominant colour family except grey tones and fluorescent.
Colouring with actual markers was tougher than with Affinity Photo. It is not possible to erase mistakes and layering a single marker provides less shades. To overcome the limited blending options, I added extra shading with liner. I also drew over the AI-generated outline with the liner. The result does not look as neat as the digital version but has a more organic look.
Below are a couple of test drawings I made to practice colouring different vehicle parts. The first is a chrome side mirror. The mirror on the car is much smaller, and I left out the blue colour. The second one is a test for the car side. There is rough shading done with a liner and some blending with pink and brown. The pink marker worked well for shading orange. The colours did not come out quite right from the scanner, and it’s hard to see on the screen. The original picture is more orange than red and different shades are better visible.
[Edit 11.5.2025]
According to a comment in the original post the car is not from the seventies but closely resembles a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro.
