There was a time when video games came in boxes with manuals and often other goodies. Sierra’s adventure games were notorious for sudden deaths and dead ends. The rival Lucasfilm Games even added a joke about them in one of their games.

Thanks! The graphic adventure genre basically died after the mid-nineties. However, there has been an increase in the number of new titles in recent years. Probably the people who played the games as kids wanted to make something similar when they grew up.

Yep, I like the physical artefacts which come with the games. I mostly buy downloads nowadays, but occasionally I’ll get a special edition if it has good stuff.
